Kai kuriais atvejais ši sąvoka yra platesnė. Tada atestuotu medicinos praktiku laikomas ir asmuo, kuris pagal šalies įstatymus ar teisinius aktus yra įgaliotas imtis klinikinės atsakomybės už medicininę pacientų apšvitą.
